The Best Softball Swing Analysis Apps for iPhone in 2026
Most swing apps are built for baseball first and list softball as an extra. That's fine for most of the swing, because load, rotation, posture and getting to contact work the same way in both. It matters in a couple of places, though, and some apps say more about softball than others. Here's what each one actually offers. Disclosure: we make Angular Baseball.
What's different about analyzing a softball swing
Much of it is the same. A hitter who opens the front shoulder early, or whose hips and hands fire together, has the same problem in either sport. Softball differs in a few places:
- Less time. Fastpitch pitchers throw from much closer than baseball pitchers, so a softball hitter has to start the swing sooner. That makes a short, connected swing matter even more.
- Pitch movement changes where contact happens. Rise balls and drop balls mean the contact point moves around more than it does against most youth baseball pitching.
- Slap hitting is a different motion. An app that grades against a full swing, ours included, will read a slap as a flawed full swing. Film full swings.

Which one fits which hitter
You want bat speed: Blast Softball
Blast is the only company here with a dedicated softball app, and its sensor measures bat speed, attack angle and time to contact. The softball app has 3.3 stars from 106 ratings. Diamond Kinetics also supports softball with a $50 sensor, but it's iPhone only and its app hasn't been updated since May 2025.
Phone video, no hardware: WIN Reality SwingAI
SwingAI supports softball, runs on iPhone and Android, and grades 12 movement dimensions from a video. Its pricing page lists paid plans only: $14.99 a month, or $119.88 a year.
A coach reviews the video: OnForm
OnForm detects softball swings when you record and gives a coach slow motion, side-by-side comparison and drawing tools. It doesn't grade the swing on its own. It has 4.8 stars from over 8,600 ratings.
Free to start on iPhone: Angular Baseball
Ours, so weigh it accordingly. It grades softball swings on the same 13 checkpoints it uses for baseball: setup, load, stride, contact and follow-through, each problem ranked by severity with a drill. Right- and left-handed hitters are each graded on their own terms. It's free for 2 analyses a day and 5 a week with no card. The honest limit: we don't have a softball-specific reference yet, so a softball swing is compared with the same elite-swing benchmarks we use for baseball. Here's how the scoring works.
Mental game too: Mind & Muscle
Built for baseball and softball players, mainly as a mental-training app. Swing Lab analyzes a video, and you pay with a subscription or with credit packs.
How to film a softball swing for any of these apps
- Side-on, landscape, hip height, far enough back that the whole hitter and the bat stay in the frame from load to finish.
- Off a tee or soft toss first. A consistent pitch makes two sessions comparable.
- Same spot every time, so the change you see is in the swing and not in the camera.
Questions parents ask
What is the best softball swing analysis app for iPhone?
For bat speed, Blast Motion's dedicated Blast Softball app with its $149.95 sensor. For automatic feedback from a phone video with no hardware, WIN Reality SwingAI or Angular Baseball, both of which support softball. If a coach reviews your video, OnForm.
Does Blast Motion work for softball?
Yes. Blast sells a softball swing analyzer with its own Blast Softball app. The sensor measures bat speed, attack angle and time to contact.
Can a baseball swing app analyze a softball swing?
Most can, because the fundamentals are shared, but check what the app says about softball. Angular Baseball grades softball swings on the same 13 checkpoints it uses for baseball and does not yet have a softball-specific reference. HitProAI's site does not mention softball. No full-swing app is built to grade slap hitting.
Is there a free softball swing analyzer?
Angular Baseball supports softball and is free for 2 analyses a day and 5 a week with no card. Blast Motion and Diamond Kinetics have free app tiers once you own the sensor.
